So I'm listening to this band called "Air" and I have done everything that can be done on the internet. This leaves me bored, but the music so good that I don't want to stop listening to it, so I thought I would blog while I listen, which is probably dangerous since I don't have a point. But here goes.
Here's the thing about Christian rock. In general, I don't like it anymore. When I used to listen to Tooth and Nail bands a lot, my wife and my other friend (Jon) told me they didn't like Christian rock, because it had a certain sound to it that they didn't like. I had no idea what they were talking about at all.
So. There was a long streak where it seemed like no good Christian rock albums were released, and I got into non-Christian music. I've spent the last 2 years away from Christian music. So I come back to check out what's new in Christian music, and there it is - that "sound" that Jon and my wife were talking about. I hate it. It is difficult to describe, but it's there. I think it's to do with the vocals mostly. It's the sound of 4 teenage boys who can't sing, all trying at the same time. I think that's mostly it. I can't stand it. I'm sorry, but farewell Christian alt-rock, you just don't do it for me anymore. Let me know if you learn how to sing.
To change subjects: I love music with a good beat, or a "drum loop" if you prefer. But I think it's the musical equivalent of fast-food. Everybody likes it, and sometimes you really like it. But it can hardly ever be REALLY good. At the same time, I haven't heard any good new releases for a while now in the non-drumloop scene, so I've been stuck with the beat to pass the time. And I must say I really like it. Download these now:
Flaming Lips - Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell (Jason Bentley Remix)
Air - Modular Mix
Air - La Femme d'Argent
Gorillaz - Tomorrow Comes Today
If you downloaded these songs and liked them, email me and ask for me recommendations. Recommending music is one of my favorite things ever. And that's what this blog is about. Making me as happy as possible.
